Ghana national under-17 football team will take on the Uganda national under-17 football team in a crucial playoff match for a place at the FIFA U17 World Cup after narrowly missing out on automatic qualification at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Black Starlets missed a spot in the quarter-finals following a drawing of lots in Rabat after a dramatic conclusion to Group D.
Ghana secured a 3-1 victory over the South Africa national under-17 football team in their final group match, finishing on four points. However, the Algerian national under-17 football team also ended the group stage with four points despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to the Senegal national under-17 football team.
Both Ghana and Algeria finished with identical records in goals scored, goals conceded, and goal difference, while their earlier group encounter had ended in a 2-2 draw.
Under the Confederation of African Football regulations, a draw was required to separate the two teams, with Algeria ultimately progressing to the quarter-finals and securing automatic qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup.
Yet hope remains for Ghana, as the playoff stage offers them a second chance to secure their World Cup dream.
In this high-stakes clash, the Black Starlets will battle Uganda,Laryea Kingston, a former Ghana international and ex-cowho served as a side.
