Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo reports that Manchester City’s players are adapting well to new head coach Enzo Maresca, commending the Italian’s meticulous coaching as the Premier League champions continue their pre-season tour of Asia.
Maresca, who succeeded Pep Guardiola earlier this summer, is nearing his second week in charge and has already impressed the squad with his detailed training approach.
After City’s arrival in Hong Kong, Semenyo noted that the players enjoy working with the new manager and are adapting quickly to his methods.
“Very good, very detailed,” Semenyo said of Maresca’s training sessions.
“He’s got an eye for detail, and he wants everything to be right, which is quite similar to Pep. That’s good for us as players, so we’ve enjoyed it so far.”
Manchester City began their Asia Tour in Hong Kong, where they will face Inter before traveling to South Korea for pre-season matches against a K League All Stars team and Atlético Madrid as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign.
Semenyo also highlighted the enthusiastic welcome from supporters in Hong Kong, describing it as further evidence of City’s global fanbase.
“The club is global and has a lot of fans. Getting to the hotel from the airport and seeing so many people welcoming us shows the great support we have out here, and we look forward to playing in front of them.”
The Ghana international believes the club’s demanding pre-season schedule offers ideal preparation for both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League seasons.
“It prepares the players here for the season ahead. There’s a lot of tough teams in the Premier League and Champions League, and Inter and Atletico are two of those, so we know that playing them at this stage is a good test for us.”
The 26-year-old, who has made 27 appearances for City since joining in January, said he feels refreshed after the off-season and is eager to start the new campaign.
“My body feels good. I like to think I’m well rested. The manager gave me a couple of weeks to relax and reset, so I’m happy to be back with the boys and looking forward to the new season.”
