World Cup 2026: Ghana set for challenge after solid prep – Ati-Zigi

Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has expressed satisfaction with Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the team’s build-up as both productive and encouraging.

Ghana face a challenging task in Group L, where they will come up against Panama, England, and Croatia as they seek to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since reaching the quarter-finals in 2010.

The Black Stars began their preparations with a training camp in Cardiff, Wales, culminating in a friendly match against the hosts, before head coach Carlos Queiroz announced his final 26-man squad, including Ati-Zigi.

Following the camp, the team relocated to the United States and has spent the past week training in Washington ahead of the tournament. The squad is expected to move to its official World Cup base at Bryant University in Boston in the coming days.

“It has been a wonderful experience so far. You can see that everyone is fully focused and ready. We have trained well, worked hard, and given everything in preparation for the tournament. Now we are excited for what lies ahead,” Ati-Zigi told GFA Media.

The Black Stars will begin their World Cup journey against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before taking on England in Boston on June 23. Ghana will then complete its Group L campaign against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
