Black Stars defender Marvin Senaya has successfully undergone surgery after sustaining a hamstring injury during Ghana’s Round of 32 defeat to Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 25-year-old right-back was forced off 13 minutes into the clash in Kansas City after pulling up chasing a loose ball. He tried to continue but could not, with medical scans later confirming the injury’s severity.
Senaya played in all four of Ghana’s matches at the tournament, featuring every minute of the group stage before the injury ended his World Cup campaign.
The Auxerre defender was one of the Black Stars’ standout performers, playing a key role in the clean sheets against Panama and England.
Taking to social media, Senaya confirmed that the surgery had been successful and vowed to return stronger following his rehabilitation.
The defender made 20 appearances for Auxerre during the 2025/26 season, scoring once. His injury is a major setback for the Ligue 1 side, who expect to be without him for the opening months of the 2026/27 campaign.
