Ghana FA Cup champions Nations FC have been drawn against Stade Malien of Mali in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
The pairing was confirmed during the official draw ceremony held at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo on Thursday, as the Kumasi-based club prepares for its historic debut in continental club football.
Nations FC will travel to Mali for the first leg, scheduled to be played between September 4 and 6, before hosting the return fixture in Ghana between September 11 and 13.
Should they progress, the Ghanaian side will face the winner of the tie between Niger’s AS Zam and ASKO de Kara of Togo in the second preliminary round.
Nations FC secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup after lifting the 2025/26 Ghana FA Cup, earning the club its first-ever appearance in an African interclub competition.
The upcoming campaign marks a historic milestone for Nations FC, who will be aiming to make a strong impression on the continental stage as they represent Ghana against some of Africa’s established clubs.
With preparations expected to intensify ahead of the September fixtures, Nations FC will be looking to negotiate the preliminary rounds and book a place in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
