Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante thanked Coventry City manager Frank Lampard and his teammates, pledging to repay their trust after contributing to the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old striker was instrumental in Coventry’s Championship campaign, helping the Sky Blues secure a return to England’s top flight.
Lampard regularly praised Thomas-Asante during the season, and the forward expressed gratitude for his manager’s confidence and support.
His strong club performance earned him a place in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, where the Black Stars exited in the Round of 32 after a narrow 1-0 loss to Colombia.
Thomas-Asante shared that his Coventry teammates remained supportive throughout the tournament, noting their encouragement has been important to his growth with the national team.
“Yeah, they’ve been in touch,” Thomas-Asante told ESPN. “When the games are coming, there’ll be a little flurry of messages, which I’m very grateful for.
“It’s been such a successful year, and a lot of my teammates at club level are part of the reason why I’ve been able to come and play in this team and this squad.
“I called one of my friends from the pitch after the last game just to let him be there as well, but there’ll be nothing better than to bring home some extra silverware for them.”
After the World Cup, Thomas-Asante will focus on the Premier League as Coventry City prepares to open the season with a challenging away match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The striker, who assisted in Ghana’s 1-0 World Cup win over Panama, is expected to play a key role in Lampard’s plans as Coventry returns to the Premier League.
