The Government of Ghana has unlocked GH₵76.5 million to fuel the Black Stars’ journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the Ministry of Finance’s approval, the funds have been split into two allocations to power Ghana’s preparations for the tournament, set to unfold across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The first allocation, amounting to GH₵58.9 million—the cedi equivalent of US$5 million—has been provided as an advance to cover preparation expenses and operational costs associated with the team’s participation in the group stage of the competition.
The second allocation, valued at GH₵17.5 million (approximately US$1.49 million), has been earmarked for the payment of outstanding qualification bonuses due to players and members of the technical team.
The bonus payments are part of a previously agreed performance-based arrangement under which players received half of their qualification bonuses during the qualifying campaign, with the remaining balance payable upon securing a place at the World Cup.
The Black Stars punched their ticket to the world stage by topping Group I in the African qualifiers, racking up an impressive 25 points from 10 matches.
Ghana will battle England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L of the World Cup, aiming to leave a lasting mark on football’s grandest stage.
