German-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Kohn has thrown his unwavering support behind the Black Stars, even after missing out on a spot in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
At 27, Kohn found himself left out of head coach Carlos Queiroz’s final 26-man roster, a move that set off lively debates among fans and pundits who felt his recent form deserved recognition.
Kohn turned heads with an outstanding season at Union Berlin, notching a goal and two assists in the Bundesliga and solidifying his status as a reliable force at left-back.
The ex-Hannover defender made a lasting impression during Ghana’s international friendly against Germany in March, earning praise from supporters and intensifying calls for his World Cup selection.
Though missing out on football’s grandest stage stings, Kohn has responded with grace and continues to stand firmly behind the national team as they gear up for the tournament.
“I would like to wish my teammates and all Ghanaians a successful World Cup. I’ll be supporting the team from afar and wishing the boys nothing but the best,” Kohn said.
As Ghana readies itself for Group L battles with Panama, England, and Croatia, Kohn will stand shoulder to shoulder with millions of fans worldwide, hoping the Black Stars shine on the World Cup stage.
