Black Stars land in Philadelphia for crucial World Cup clash with Croatia

The Black Stars landed in Philadelphia on Thursday evening, getting ready for their important Group L match against Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this Saturday.

Carlos Queiroz and his team left their training base in Providence, Rhode Island, after finishing up at Bryant University. They held a recovery session there following Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with England.

The team is now settled in their Philadelphia hotel and will have one last training session on Friday before turning their attention to the big game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Ghana go into the last round of group matches in a good spot, with four points from their first two games. They beat Panama 1-0 and then drew 0-0 with England.

If the Black Stars beat Croatia, they will reach the knockout stage for the first time since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The squad was in good spirits after a visit from a top Ghanaian delegation earlier on Thursday, which lifted their morale.

The delegation was led by Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith, and included Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

The officials praised the players for their performances so far, shared a message of support from President John Dramani Mahama, and encouraged the team to finish strong against Croatia. Ibrahim Mahama also promised a special bonus if the Black Stars make it to the Round of 32.

At the same time, England will play Panama in the other Group L match, with both games starting at the same time.

Everyone will be watching Lincoln Financial Field as Ghana tries to secure a spot in the knockout rounds and keep its strong World Cup run going under Carlos Queiroz.
