Kotoko returns to top spot as league resumes

Asante Kotoko defeated Legon Cities 2-0 in Kumasi, regaining their top spot in the Ghana Premier League after a four-week suspension due to the death of a fan.
Enhanced security measures were in place at the Baba Yara Stadium, creating a tense atmosphere. However, Asante Kotoko secured a vital win, surpassing Hearts of Oak, who had briefly topped the table following their victory against Young Apostles the previous Saturday.
Patrick Asiedu’s stunning 28th-minute strike and Kwame Poku’s 88th-minute penalty secured Kotoko’s win, sending the home crowd into a frenzy of joy.
Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars are tied at 37 points, but Kotoko leads on goal difference; Hearts are in third place, one point behind.
Medeama bounce back
Medeama SC mounted a stunning comeback to overcome Bechem United 3-1 at the T&A Park. After six minutes, Darivin Yeboah handed the visitors an early lead, but Kamaradini Mamudu equalized 10 minutes later.
Medeama, however, dominated the second half, scoring through Michael Sarpong in the 66th minute and Kelvin Nkrumah in stoppage time to secure victory. Medeama’s victory moves them up to fifth place.
Karela United battled Basake Holy Stars to a 1-1 draw at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, extending their winless streak.
Although Alhassan Adamu’s goal gave the home team an early lead, Bismark Tayi’s 70th-minute penalty earned the away team a draw in Tamale. The relegation zone still contains Karela, and Holy Stars are ninth.
Meanwhile, at Dun’s Park, a 68th-minute goal by Michael Nkoah gave Bibiani Gold Stars a 1-0 victory over Nations FC, keeping their title hopes alive.
Amankona steals show
At the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, Berekum Chelsea defeated Accra Lions 3-1, with Stephen Amankona’s sensational hat-trick leading the way.
A hat-trick from the in-form forward (44th, 52nd, & 72nd minutes) secured the victory, with Akintunde scoring a late consolation goal for Lions (84th minute).
Dreams FC’s hopes were dashed at the Tuba Astro Turf Park after a frustrating goalless home draw against Aduana FC.

Vision FC’s frustrating night ended in a 1-1 draw with Kpando Heart of Lions, preventing a higher league position.
