Former Ghana international Albert Adomah believes the Black Stars have a strong chance of progressing from their World Cup group if they approach the tournament with the right mindset.
Ghana have been drawn alongside the England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team, presenting a tough group-stage challenge. However, Adomah insists the team should embrace the test rather than be intimidated by it.
“It’s a difficult group with strong teams like England and Croatia. On paper, some may view Panama as the easier opponent, but football doesn’t work that way,” he said.
He cautioned against underestimating any side, noting that so-called underdogs can often pose the greatest threat in tournament football.
“Often, the team you expect to beat comfortably is the one that raises its level the most. Ghana must stay focused and show respect to every opponent,” he added.
The former winger stressed that progression will depend not just on talent, but also on preparation, discipline, and mentality. With a squad rich in quality and depth, he remains confident Ghana can compete effectively.
“Ghana have a real opportunity to qualify. There is talent and depth in the squad, but it ultimately comes down to how the players perform mentally and physically,” he said.
Adomah also highlighted the importance of self-belief, insisting it could be a decisive factor in the team’s performance.
“If the players believe they are the best on the pitch, they can beat anyone. This is the World Cup—once it starts, rankings don’t matter. Any team can defeat another,” he concluded.
