Ghana continued their winning run in the 2026 World Cup qualifying, defeating Madagascar 3-0 in Morocco on Monday.
The Black Stars’ collective effort led to their fourth straight win and the top spot in Group I with 15 points.
Otto Addo, the head coach, utilized a 3-5-2 system, opting for Jerome Opoku and Abu Francis from the bench after their 5-0 win against Chad.
Benjamin Asare, the Hearts of Oak goalie, took over in goal.
Scoring in the 11th minute, the Black Stars demonstrated their effectiveness and were rewarded for their timely pressure.
Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey headed in Jordan Ayew’s expertly placed free kick, beating Madagascar’s goalie, Geordan Dupire, and putting Ghana ahead early.
Ghana almost doubled their lead, but Dupire blocked Kudus’ close-range shot expertly.
Ghana’s control of the game stifled Madagascar’s ability to generate clear-cut opportunities.
Nine minutes into the second half, Partey headed in another Ayew corner kick, doubling Ghana’s lead.
Following persistent pressure, Kudus calmly finished to make it 3-0 for the Black Stars, assisted by a through ball from captain Ayew.
Ghana’s strong performance secured their win against a weak Madagascar team.
Ghana’s victory solidifies their lead in Group I, virtually securing their spot in the World Cup.
