Ghana FA responds to concerns over delayed 2026 World Cup ticket release

The Ghana Football Association is stepping forward to ease supporters’ and stakeholders’ nerves amid mounting concerns about ticket access for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a statement issued on May 20, 2026, the football governing body clarified that FIFA has not yet begun distributing tickets to buyers worldwide.

This clarification comes as fan anxiety grows, with both physical and digital tickets still out of reach just weeks before the tournament kicks off in North America.

The GFA emphasized that the delay is a global issue, not unique to Ghana. The federation revealed that FIFA is rolling out a centralized, digital-first system to handle the surge of millions of fans expected in host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

According to the GFA, all tickets will be issued solely through FIFA’s official Ticketing Application.

The mobile app is set to launch in the coming days, inviting supporters to install and activate it on their smartphones to access or transfer their digital tickets.

The association assured fans that it is working closely with FIFA’s ticketing department to provide timely updates and clear guidance as Ghanaian supporters finalize their travel plans for the tournament.

By adopting a digital-only ticketing system, organizers aim to stamp out ticket fraud and block unauthorized resale, guaranteeing that only verified fans can enter the stadiums.

This announcement arrives at a pivotal moment as Ghana gears up for its Group G matches against Panama, England, and Croatia at the World Cup.
