Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, says the players are eager to compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and are fully motivated to leave a strong impression on the global stage.
The Ghana national football team will make its fifth appearance at the World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico this summer.
The four-time African champions have been drawn into Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
Following disappointing group-stage exits at the 2014 and 2022 World Cups in Brazil and Qatar, respectively, Appiah believes the current squad is determined to deliver a much stronger campaign.
“The players are really looking forward to the World Cup and are eager to show what they can contribute to the team. As a Ghanaian, I’m happy because the players are highly motivated and determined to impress at the tournament,” the former Black Stars captain told Asempa FM.
Ghana will begin its World Cup campaign against Panama at Toronto’s BMO Field on June 17, followed by a high-stakes clash with England in Boston on June 23. The group stage wraps up with a showdown against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field on June 27.
To gear up for the tournament, the Black Stars will test their mettle in international friendlies against Mexico on May 22 and Wales on June 2.
