Feyenoord has officially appointed van Persie as new manager

Feyenoord has appointed Robin van Persie as their new manager following his departure from Heerenveen.
The 41-year-former English Premier League legend has departed Heerenveen, where he managed since the start of the season, to take over at De Kuip.
Feyenoord reached an agreement for his departure, ending their worries about a summer wait. The club announced his starting position for today’s game.
“Everyone knows how special my bond with Feyenoord is,” Van Persie said. “I am really looking forward to working with the group of players on 1908, together with a strong staff, and then playing matches in De Kuip, supported by the legion, and achieving success together.”
Their Champions League last 16 opponents will be either Arsenal or Inter Milan, possibly giving Van Persie an Emirates Stadium reunion with his old club.
Rene Hake, Erik ten Hag’s former assistant at Manchester United, who departed in November, will now assist Van Persie.
Following Brian Priske’s dismissal earlier this month, Feyenoord, now under interim manager Pascal Bosschaart, sits third in the Eredivisie, thirteen points behind Ajax, pending Van Persie’s appointment.
Feyenoord, Van Persie’s hometown team, was where he began and ended his football career.
