Ghana’s newly appointed head coach, Carlos Queiroz, has opted to keep his tactical approach under wraps as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The experienced manager took over from Otto Addo following a string of disappointing results in recent friendlies against Austria and Germany.
Speaking during his unveiling at the Alisa Hotel, Queiroz acknowledged that work is already underway to build a competitive system, but made it clear he would not disclose specifics.
“The guys from Panama national football team are listening to our conference, so I’m not going to say much about our approach,” he remarked.
Queiroz brings vast experience to the role, having previously worked with top clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United, while also managing several national teams, including Portugal national football team and Iran national football team.
His World Cup résumé is equally notable, having guided South Africa national football team to qualification for the 2002 tournament, led Portugal to the Round of 16 in 2010, and managed Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions.
In addition, he has held coaching roles with the Egypt, Japan, Qatar, and Oman national football teams.
With preparations already in motion, Queiroz is expected to quickly settle into the role as he begins assembling a competitive squad for the tournament, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Ghana will open its campaign against Panama national football team on June 17 in Toronto, before taking on England and Croatia in a challenging group stage.
