Wolves drop to the Championship as West Ham draw seals fate

Wolverhampton Wanderers are officially relegated from the Premier League after West Ham United and Crystal Palace finished in a 0-0 draw.

The draw puts West Ham on 33 points, while Wolves remain at 17. With only five games left, Wolves cannot make up the 18-point gap, so they are confirmed to be relegated to the Championship.

This is the club’s first relegation since 2012 and ends their eight-year run in the top division after being promoted in 2018.

Wolves made a strong start after their return, finishing seventh in the Premier League for two years in a row and reaching the UEFA Europa League semi-finals in 2019/20. But as important players left, the team struggled and had several disappointing seasons.

This season was especially tough. The team lost their first five games and went 19 matches without a win, which ultimately led to their relegation.

There was a short improvement after Rob Edwards took over from Vítor Pereira, but Wolves never really challenged to stay up. Letting in a late goal against Brighton & Hove Albion made things worse and kept them in the relegation zone.

Their relegation ends a tough season filled with ups and downs and missed chances, bringing to a close what was once a promising time in the Premier League.
