WORLD CUP 2026: Jonathan Mensah says Ghana fear no one ahead of Colombia showdown

Former Ghana international Jonathan Mensah believes the Black Stars can beat Colombia in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana reached the knockout stage by finishing third in Group L and will play Colombia on Saturday, July 4.

The Black Stars started with a 1-0 win against Panama, drew 0-0 with England, and lost 2-1 to Croatia in their last group match.

Looking back on Ghana’s games, the former Columbus Crew defender praised the team’s strong start, saying it helped them qualify.

“I was happy the boys got the three points in the first game. It was very important and ultimately helped us qualify. Now it’s about recovering, preparing and going again,” he said.

Mensah called the loss to Croatia unusual and suggested that qualifying early may have affected the team’s urgency.

“It was a bizarre game. When you know you’re already through, the sense of urgency isn’t the same. There were a few changes, but the most important thing is that everyone came out healthy.”

Mensah said Ghana should go into the match against Colombia with confidence.

“We don’t fear anyone. We just need to prepare according to our strengths and study our opponents properly,” he told TV3.

The Black Stars will now focus on Colombia as they aim to reach the Round of 16.
