Queens Park Rangers CEO Christian Nourry welcomed Ghana international Tariq Lamptey to the club, calling his signing another positive move for QPR.
The 26-year-old right-back agreed to a long-term contract with QPR after leaving Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A by mutual consent.
Lamptey’s spell in Italy was cut short by an ACL injury, which kept him off the pitch for much of his time there. After the 2025/26 season ended, he and Fiorentina decided to go their separate ways.
QPR quickly signed the former Chelsea defender, and Nourry believes the club is the right place for Lamptey to get his career back on track.
“It is great to be able to announce Tariq’s arrival at QPR today,” Nourry told the club’s official website.
“We’ve had good conversations about what he wants to achieve and how he feels that this is the right environment for him to flourish in.
“With over 100 Premier League appearances to his name at 25, there is no doubting his talent.
“His decision to join QPR over a myriad of other EFL Championship clubs and clubs abroad is a further signal of the growing potential of this football club.”
Born in Hillingdon, England, Lamptey came through Chelsea’s academy before making his Premier League debut against Arsenal in 2019. He joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2020, where he developed into one of the league’s most exciting attacking full-backs, making more than 120 appearances before his move to Fiorentina.
At international level, Lamptey represents Ghana and was part of the Black Stars squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He has earned 11 senior caps for his country.
QPR hopes Lamptey’s arrival marks the beginning of a successful new chapter. The experienced defender is looking to get back to full fitness and find the form that once made him a top target in the Championship.
