The Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante, says Carlos Queiroz’s performance will be reviewed after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese coach has signed a short-term contract to replace Otto Addo, who was let go after Ghana lost friendly matches to Austria and Germany before the World Cup.
Asante Twum told Asempa FM that Queiroz’s future with the team depends on how he performs at the tournament, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“Carlos Queiroz will lead the Black Stars through the World Cup, after which the FA will evaluate the outcome and decide whether to continue with him or part ways,” he stated.
He also revealed that the 72-year-old has already begun preparations and is expected to arrive in Ghana soon.
Queiroz is set to meet the squad next month during a friendly against Mexico, before a final preparatory match against Wales on June 2.
Ghana, preparing for its fifth World Cup appearance, has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England and Croatia in subsequent fixtures.
Following group-stage exits in both 2014 and 2022, Queiroz will be aiming to guide Ghana to a more impactful performance on the global stage.
