The ex-Ghanaian national team coach, Chris Hughton, confessed to feeling the weight of expectation in his position.
After serving as the Black Stars’ technical advisor, the former manager of Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest replaced Otto Addo, who left after the 2022 World Cup, signing an 18-month contract.
Hughton’s failure to deliver, coupled with Ghana’s early exit from the 2023 AFCON, led to the GFA ending their association with the ex-Brighton manager.
Hughton told Voice Online that the pressure of coaching the Black Stars was always present.
“The job’s pressure was clear from the start, and poor results will be addressed directly,” he explained.
Otto Addo replaced Chris Hughton as Ghana’s coach, signing a three-year contract with the GFA that is renewable for two more years.
After Hughton’s dismissal as Ghana’s coach in 2024, he’s been without a team.
