Ghana’s head coach, Carlos Queiroz, shared a confident message before the Black Stars’ important 2026 FIFA World Cup match against England.
The four-time African champions will play the Three Lions in a key Group L match on Tuesday, June 24. Both teams won their opening games.
Ghana earned a dramatic 1-0 win over Panama with Caleb Yirenkyi scoring in stoppage time. England started their campaign with a 4-2 win against Croatia.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash, the former Real Madrid coach expressed confidence in his team’s ability to compete and secure a positive result against one of the tournament’s favorites.
Tomorrow, we will fight to win. Whatever the outcome, our players must leave the pitch with their heads held high, knowing they gave everything for the team,” Queiroz told reporters. The Black Stars are currently second in Group L. They have the same number of points as England, who are ahead on goal difference.
Queiroz, who is 73, was hired to help Ghana reach the quarter-finals for the first time since their memorable quarter-final in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. A strong result against England would significantly strengthen Ghana’s chances of advancing ahead of their final group-stage fixture against Croatia.
