George Boateng, a former Blackburn Rovers midfielder, has expressed his desire to take charge of the championship team following John Eustace’s resignation.
After ensuring Blackburn’s safety in the 2023/24 season, Eustace left the club on February 13, 2025.
With his departure, the Championship side, nine points behind the Premier League playoff spots, are lacking.
Boateng is among the potential replacements for Eustace, alongside reported candidates like former Wolves manager Gary O’Neil, Braga’s Carlos Carvalhal, and ex-Young Boys coach Raphael Wicky.
Boateng felt prepared for this role, having worked with Blackburn as a U-13 assistant youth coach in 2018.
In reaction to a rumor from Soccer Africa, Boateng stated his wish to lead the club as manager.
“My name’s been linked with several Championship clubs, but I’ve clarified that I’m keen on the Blackburn Rovers managerial position”.
His previous job as Coventry’s first-team coach, which lasted four months, ended poorly for the 49-year-old when he and manager Mark Robins were let go.
