Croatia’s coach, Zlatko Dalić, states that his team won’t underestimate Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Group L.
Following Friday’s draw in Washington, Dalic discussed the quality and pace of the Black Stars and mentioned his personal ties to Asamoah Gyan, the ex-Ghana captain.
“We don’t care too much about Ghana. I know Asamoah Gyan is my friend; he played in my team when I was at Al Ain. But it’ll be a very tough game for Croatia. The Ghana team is very strong and quick,” Dalic said.
Ghana will play Croatia in the last Group L match, which could affect qualification. The group also includes England and Panama, who will meet on both sides.
Croatia comes to North America with a strong tournament history, having reached the World Cup final in 2018 and placed third in 2022. Ghana returns with a young squad and a stronger ambition after a successful qualifying stage.
The game has added interest because of Dalic’s and Gyan’s history, as Gyan played for the coach in the UAE.
