Senegal File CAS Appeal to Restore AFCON 2025 Title

The Senegal national football team has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after losing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title. The Confederation of African Football made the controversial decision to give the trophy to Morocco.

Senegal first won the final 1-0 in extra time. However, CAF changed the result after a protest over a late penalty, prompting Senegal’s players to leave the field for 15 minutes.

CAF’s Appeals Committee decided that the walk-off broke tournament rules. They declared the match forfeited and gave Morocco a 3-0 win.

Senegal now wants a legal review of how the rules were applied and the disciplinary process. CAS will decide whether the ruling stands, and the case could set an important precedent for African football.
