Queiroz Ghana Arrival Imminent Ahead of Black Stars Introduction

The Ghana Football Association says that Carlos Queiroz, the new Black Stars head coach, will arrive in Ghana soon for his official introduction.

GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum said the experienced Portuguese manager is expected in the next few days, when he will share his vision for the senior national team.

Queiroz, who has coached Egypt, Colombia, and Oman before, has been given a short-term role to lead Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The 73-year-old takes over from Otto Addo, who was let go in March after back-to-back friendly losses to Austria and Germany.

Asante Twum told Asempa FM that the unveiling will allow the public and the media to hear directly from the new coach.

“In the coming days, Carlos Queiroz will arrive in Ghana for his official unveiling, where he will personally share his plans, expectations, and ambitions for the team,” he said.

“We have only released his initial statement, but he will be presented to the media to answer questions before we move forward,” he added.

Queiroz is set to start working with the team next month. His first game will be an international friendly against Mexico, followed by a final warm-up match against Wales on June 2.

Ghana, preparing for its fifth World Cup appearance, has been drawn in Group L. The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England and Croatia.

After leaving the tournament at the group stage in both 2014 and 2022, Queiroz now has the task of rebuilding Ghana’s confidence and helping the team perform better on the world stage.
