Coach Nurudeen Amadu remains unwavering as his team prepares for a crucial second-leg clash with Raja Casablanca, the Moroccan giants.
Following a 2-2 draw in the first leg, the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie takes place after the Sunday match at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Amadu acknowledged some disappointments in the performance but appreciated his team’s resilience against their more experienced opponents.
In his post-match interview, he expressed that he wasn’t happy, but felt that they didn’t bring shame upon themselves.” It’s like the equalizer during the second half; we just dished it out to them and didn’t defend well in that situation. We were wasteful in front of goal, and that cost us.”
Despite their brave fight, the Ghanaian side succumbed to defensive mistakes, enabling the Moroccan team to level the score.
In the return leg, Samartex will travel to Morocco, where they will encounter a difficult challenge in moving forward.
Coach Amadu believes his team is capable of competing, emphasizing the need to improve defensively and capitalize on goal-scoring opportunities.
“We know that when you make minor mistakes, they punish you. Now we are going to fight because I have seen how they play, and I will also see how to strategize to go there. We will be resilient and go to fight them there,” he added.
Samartex, who made their debut in continental football by winning the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League, must deliver an exceptional performance in Morocco to advance to the group stage.
