Ghanaian football’s development across all levels is the ambitious goal of newly appointed GFA Technical Director Winfried Schafer, urging stakeholders and fans to support his vision.
A Facebook message from Schäfer detailed his goals: strengthening the Black Stars and investing in Ghanaian youth and local football.
“We want to help every single player; it doesn’t matter if you just began on the grassroots level, it doesn’t matter if you’re a boy or a girl! We will have your back, and we will help you find your way,” Schafer wrote.
A German veteran highlighted the crucial role of collaboration between the GFA, clubs, and government in developing players.
“We want to support every club, small or big, academy, and school, and we will try to build valuable national and international partnerships,” he stated.
Ghana is preparing for key World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar; Schafer’s appointment comes at a critical juncture. He reiterated his belief in the necessity of a collaborative approach to achievement.
“Whatever we do, we can only do it together. The players and the coaches, the federation and the medical staff, the clubs and academies, the sports ministry, and most of all, we will need you, the fans,” he stressed.
With extensive African football experience, including leading Cameroon to AFCON victory in 2002, Schafer aims to restore Ghana’s football prominence.
