Gyan worried over Kudus injury ahead of World Cup

Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has raised concerns about the possible absence of Mohammed Kudus ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old midfielder is currently dealing with an injury that could rule him out of the tournament in North America.

Speaking to Channel One TV, Gyan, who played in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cups, highlighted how important Kudus is to the team, pointing out his creativity, vision, and attacking intelligence.

He believes the Black Stars would miss such a key player, since Kudus’s style gives the team a unique edge that is hard to replace.

Despite his concerns, Gyan urged the technical team to adapt quickly and find suitable alternatives, stressing the importance of squad depth at big tournaments.

He added that, even though Kudus’s injury is unfortunate, the team needs to stay focused and devise tactical solutions to remain competitive in upcoming games against Mexico and during the World Cup.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
