Asante Kotoko are getting ready for a big squad change before the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. Ten players are expected to leave as the club starts rebuilding.
Kumasi-based Akoma FM reports that Peter Amidu Acquah, Elvis Kyei Baffour, Baba Yahaya, Emmanuel Antwi, Kwame Poku, Dauda Saaka, Johnson Owusu, Francis Acquah, Morifing Donzo, and Isaac Mintah are all expected to leave the Porcupine Warriors, though the club has not confirmed this yet.
These expected departures come after a disappointing 2025/26 season, when Kotoko finished eighth in the Ghana Premier League with 49 points. This result was well below what fans expect from one of Ghana’s top clubs.
With these players leaving, the club will have space to rebuild the squad. Kotoko is likely to be active in the transfer market to strengthen important positions before the new season starts.
Kotoko have not made an official announcement yet, but Akoma FM says the club is expected to confirm the players’ futures soon as they get ready for the 2026/27 season.
The Porcupine Warriors will be hoping the overhaul marks the beginning of a revival as they aim to challenge for the Ghana Premier League title and other domestic honors next season.
