Fatawu Issahaku: “Camp spirit is high, and everyone’s ready.”

After a standout season with Leicester City, the 22-year-old secured his spot in Carlos Queiroz’s final 26-man squad and is gearing up for his second shot at football’s grandest stage.

Looking back on this opportunity, Issahaku expressed his pride at the opportunity to wear Ghana’s colors on the world stage again, eager to build on the lessons from his first World Cup journey.

“It feels incredible. Being part of a World Cup squad is always a dream come true, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. This is my second World Cup, and the first experience taught me a lot,” he said.

“I want to use what I learned to contribute even more and help the team achieve greater success this time around.”

Issahaku also praised the team’s preparations, highlighting the upbeat atmosphere in camp and his teammates’ unwavering focus as they set their sights on the challenges ahead.

“Everything has been going well so far. The energy in camp is excellent, everyone is motivated, and training has been very productive. We’re working hard to be ready for the tournament,” he stated.

“Personally, I’ve really enjoyed the training sessions. I can already see improvements within the group. We’re getting fitter, sharper, and better prepared for the challenges ahead.”

The Black Stars are currently stationed in Rhode Island, putting the finishing touches on their preparations with spirited training sessions and community outreach before heading to Toronto.

Ghana will begin its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27 in their remaining Group L fixtures.
