Real Madrid fine Valverde and Tchouaméni after training ground clash

Real Madrid has completed internal disciplinary action involving Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni following a heated training-ground incident that resulted in Valverde requiring hospital treatment.

The club confirmed that both midfielders have been fined €500,000 each after an altercation at their Valdebebas training complex earlier this week. Reports suggested tensions escalated during a training session before continuing in the dressing room.

In an official statement, Real Madrid disclosed that both players appeared before the appointed investigator, accepted responsibility for their actions, and showed full remorse. They also issued apologies to each other, as well as to the coaching staff, teammates, and supporters, and agreed to accept any sanctions imposed by the club.

The club added that, given the circumstances, a financial penalty of €500,000 each was deemed appropriate, bringing the internal disciplinary process to a close.

Valverde later sought to downplay the incident, dismissing claims of a physical confrontation.
“At no point did my teammate hit me, and I didn’t hit him either,” he said, explaining that the cut on his forehead occurred when he accidentally struck a table during an argument. He added that fatigue and frustration had exaggerated the situation.

The episode comes amid a challenging season for Real Madrid, who have struggled domestically and exited the UEFA Champions League earlier than anticipated.

According to reports in Spain, tensions within the squad have risen in recent weeks as pressure mounts ahead of a crucial El Clásico clash against FC Barcelona.
