Orlando City cruised to a commanding 4-1 victory over D.C. United on Saturday night at Inter&Co Stadium, strengthening their hold on an automatic playoff spot with four regular-season matches left to play.
Antoine Griezmann starred once again, opening the scoring in the 15th minute after a slick combination involving Daryl Dike and Martín Ojeda. The French forward exchanged quick passes with both teammates before finishing calmly, extending his run of MLS games with a goal contribution to 10 straight matches.
Orlando doubled their advantage seven minutes later when Griezmann picked out Ojeda with a lofted pass over the defence. The Argentine midfielder, recently crowned the club’s all-time leading scorer across all competitions, produced a spectacular scorpion-kick finish to make it 2-0.
D.C. United pulled one back just before the break after winning a penalty from a corner-kick incident. Tai Baribo converted from the spot, sending his effort beyond goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau.
Griezmann restored Orlando’s two-goal cushion shortly after halftime, capitalising on a defensive error to net his second of the evening in the 50th minute. Marco Pašalić then put the result beyond doubt deep into stoppage time, finishing off a through ball from Justin Ellis to complete the 4-1 rout.
