Chris Wilder, Sheffield United manager, applauded Jordan Ayew for his standout display in the team’s hard-fought English Championship win over Bristol City.
The ex-Leicester City striker played 69 determined minutes as the Blades edged a close win and climbed higher in the league standings.
In his first start since arriving at Sheffield United as a summer free agent, Ayew delivered 13 precise passes, made five key defensive plays, and won three of eight ground duels.
Wilder commended the seasoned Ghanaian’s leadership as his team bounced back impressively from their midweek setback.
“We made some changes [to the starting unit]; delighted for Jordan,” Wilder said.
“His performance was really good; it allowed us to go and press and get after them and allow them to go wrong for us to break up and control the game.
“Hopefully it’s a great boost for his confidence, but he and Kalvin [Phillips] were exceptional and outstanding.”
Since joining Sheffield United, the 35-year-old has made four appearances in all competitions, though he is still chasing his first goal or assist for the club.
