GFA opens applications for 2026/27 CAF club licensing

The Ghana Football Association has started the Club Licensing process for teams that want to take part in the 2026/27 CAF interclub competitions.

The FA said that all clubs interested in joining must obtain a valid license in accordance with the rules set by the Confederation of African Football. Meeting these requirements is necessary to take part in continental tournaments.

Clubs need to meet five main criteria in the CAF Club Licensing framework: sporting, infrastructure, personnel and administration, legal, and financial standards.

The GFA also said that only stadiums approved under CAF’s 2022 Stadium Regulations can host matches. Clubs that want to use stadiums that do not meet these standards should start the approval process as soon as possible.

The licensing process will follow a set timeline. All documents, inspections, and checks must be finished before the June 30, 2026, deadline.

Clubs are encouraged to work closely with the GFA Club Licensing Department to make sure they meet all requirements. The FA warned that clubs that do not meet the standards will be disqualified from CAF competitions.

The association also asked all stakeholders to work together to help ensure the process is smooth and transparent before the next continental season.
