Asamoah Gyan downplays coaching plans despite UEFA qualification

Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan has shared why he hasn’t gone into coaching, even though he has the necessary qualifications.

Widely seen as one of Ghana’s top footballers and a well-known name in Africa and Europe, Gyan said coaching takes more commitment than he is ready to give right now.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Gyan said he is now more focused on his business ventures than on football management.

“The reason I haven’t gone into coaching is because of the level of dedication it requires. When you commit to coaching, you must devote time to developing players,” he said.

Although Gyan, who played for Sunderland AFC and Al Ain FC, has a UEFA License B, he stressed that coaching needs full attention, which he cannot give while running his businesses.

“I have a UEFA License B, but I’m not pursuing coaching because I have other businesses to manage. Coaching requires total focus and the ability to teach,” he added.

During his successful career, Gyan played for Ghana in three FIFA World Cups: 2006, 2010, and 2014. This helped make him one of the country’s most influential footballers.
