Patrice Beaumelle has reportedly been proposed as a candidate for the vacant Black Stars head coach position as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) continues its search for a successor to Carlos Queiroz.
Ghana currently has no substantive head coach after Queiroz’s short-term contract expired following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The experienced Portuguese tactician was appointed on a four-month deal before the tournament, following Otto Addo’s dismissal in March.
Desmond Ofei has emerged as a leading candidate, but Beaumelle is also among the names the GFA is considering as it evaluates its options.
The French coach brings considerable experience in African football, having previously managed the national teams of Ivory Coast, Zambia and Angola.
Beaumelle has also worked extensively as an assistant to Hervé Renard with Zambia and Ivory Coast, which has given him significant knowledge of African international football.
The GFA is expected to move quickly in its search for a new coach. The Black Stars are scheduled to return to competitive action next month for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana will be determined to make a strong start to the qualification campaign after missing out on the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group C alongside West African rivals Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia.
With the qualifiers fast approaching, the GFA faces a crucial decision on who will lead the Black Stars into the next phase. Ghana aims to secure a return to the continental showpiece.
