Karela United, a Ghana Premier League club, can finally breathe easy as FIFA has permanently lifted its transfer ban after it resolved a long-standing financial dispute with former player Sana Camara.
In a letter dated August 20, 2026, FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary, Americo Espallargas, confirmed that proceedings against the club had been officially closed after Camara acknowledged receiving the money owed to him.
The dispute followed an earlier FIFA ruling in favor of the player, which resulted in Karela United being prohibited from registering new players until the outstanding debt was settled in full.
According to FIFA, Camara confirmed that Karela United had fulfilled their financial obligations in accordance with the original decision, paving the way for the removal of the sanction.
“The present proceedings against the Respondent are hereby closed, and its ban on registering any new players has been permanently lifted,” FIFA stated in its letter.

The world football governing body has also instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to immediately remove the corresponding registration restriction imposed on Karela United at the domestic level.
FIFA, however, clarified that the decision relates specifically to the Sana Camara case and does not affect any other sanctions that may separately apply to the club.
This breakthrough comes as a huge relief for Karela United just before the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season, giving the club fresh momentum to register new players after weeks of anxious waiting.
The FIFA sanction had left Karela United unable to bolster their squad during the crucial transfer window, with the unresolved payment casting a shadow over their preparations.
Now that the dispute is officially behind them, Karela United can look ahead and restart their recruitment drive as soon as the GFA lifts the domestic registration restriction.
