Nottingham Forest fired Ange Postecoglou just minutes after the team’s Saturday loss to Chelsea, and 39 days after hiring him as head coach on September 9.
Forest lost 3-0 at home to Chelsea on Saturday, and the club fired Postecoglou within 20 minutes. He was no longer at the City Ground at that moment.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” read the statement. “The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou, aged 60, took over from Nuno Espirito Santo and signed a two-year contract at the City Ground on September 9, but in his 39-day stint, he lost six matches and drew twice.
After a defeat to FC Midtjylland, his fans chanted “sacked in the morning” at him.
Postecoglou said he would speak with Forest’s Marinakis after losing 2-0 to Newcastle. But, at a defiant press conference on Friday before the match, he said he hadn’t held those talks and added: “The story always has the same outcome…” me with a trophy.”
Forest’s poor finishing was a recurring problem under Postecoglou, and they missed several chances against Chelsea. They haven’t scored in three straight home Premier League games for the first time since October 1998.
