Kylian Mbappé scored two goals to lead France to a strong 3-0 win over Sweden, sending Les Bleus into the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The French captain now has six goals in the tournament after another sharp performance, as Didier Deschamps’ team kept up their strong run in the competition.

France controlled the match from start to finish in New Jersey, and Michael Olise also played very well. Sweden had trouble keeping up with the favorites and only managed two shots on target in the one-sided game.

Didier Deschamps returned to the sidelines after his mother’s passing, and Mbappé scored the first goal before halftime by breaking through Sweden’s defense and calmly finishing past Jacob Zetterström.
Bradley Barcola made it 2-0 for France after a great assist from Olise, shooting into the top corner to secure the win.
Mbappé finished off another great game late on, working with Olise before curling a fine shot into the far corner. This goal drew comparisons to the legendary French striker Thierry Henry.
With these two goals, Mbappé now has six in the tournament. He is just one behind Lionel Messi on the all-time FIFA World Cup scoring list and is now tied in the race for the Golden Boot.

France will play against surprise team Paraguay in the Round of 16 in Philadelphia. Les Bleus look like strong contenders to reach the quarter-finals.
