Excited Inaki William relishing his Black Stars return

Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has returned to the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

The team’s last gathering in June saw the absence of the 30-year-old player, who missed out on their consecutive wins in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

In response to a post by the Ghana Football Association on X, Williams expressed his enthusiasm upon his return by saying, “Happy to be back.”

Williams had a great season, winning the Spanish FA Cup, Copa del Rey, with his brother Nico at Athletic Bilbao.

Despite his excellent form, he has yet to score in the current season despite playing four matches.

Williams, who played for the Black Stars in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFCON, will have an important role in Ghana’s match against Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Following that, on September 9, the team will play Niger in Morocco, a neutral location that CAF selected as a result of Niger’s failure to meet home ground requirements.
