Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has signed with Coventry City ahead of the new Premier League season, pending international clearance.
The 19-year-old joins the Sky Blues from Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjaelland on a long-term contract. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.
Yirenkyi arrives in England after a rapid rise that has established him as one of Ghana’s most promising young talents.
He played a key role for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, appearing alongside Brandon Thomas-Asante and scoring the decisive goal in Ghana’s 1-0 group stage win over Panama.
His performances at club and international level have earned him 15 senior caps for Ghana at just 19 years old.
A graduate of the Right to Dream Academy, Yirenkyi joined FC Nordsjaelland in 2024 and made his senior debut that September at age 18. He quickly became a first-team regular with composed and influential performances.
In the 2025/26 season, Yirenkyi made 34 appearances as Nordsjaelland finished third in the Danish Superliga, securing UEFA Conference League qualification.
His strong season earned him two major honors: Danish Superliga Young Player of the Year and a place in the league’s Team of the Year.
Coventry City hopes Yirenkyi’s creativity, composure, and international experience will strengthen their midfield as they prepare for the Premier League. He is considered one of the club’s most exciting additions for the new campaign.
