Heart of Lions have named Turkish coach Kasim Gokyildiz as head coach for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Gokyildiz returns to Ghana on a one-year contract with the Kpando-based club, which includes an option to extend.
Announcing the appointment on social media, the club said:
“We are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Kasim Gokyildiz as the Club’s new Head Coach. Coach Kasim signs a one-year deal with renewal options. Woezor, Coach Kassim, to the Lions Den.”
The appointment follows the recent departure of veteran coach Bashiru Hayford, whose contract expired at the end of the season.
In a statement confirming his departure, Heart of Lions thanked Hayford for his contributions to the club.
“Heart of Lions Football Club announces that Head Coach Bashir Hayford has departed the club after the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to his time with the team.
“Coach Hayford served the club with dedication, professionalism, and commitment throughout his tenure. His experience, leadership, and passion for the game played an important role in the club’s journey, and we sincerely appreciate his contribution both on and off the pitch.
“On behalf of the Board, Management, players, staff, supporters, and the entire Heart of Lions family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Coach Bashir Hayford for his service and wish him every success in the next chapter of his coaching career. Thank you, Bash.”
