Partey reacts to Canada entry snub before England showdown

Ghana’s deputy captain, Thomas Partey, has spoken out for the first time after he was denied entry into Canada for the Black Stars’ opening 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Panama.

The experienced midfielder missed Ghana’s dramatic 1-0 win in Toronto, where Caleb Yirenkyi scored in stoppage time to secure all three points.

Now that he has been cleared to join the squad in the United States, Partey is expected to make his tournament debut against England.

“Things happen in football that you cannot control. For me, I feel okay now, and I’m ready to play,” Partey said.

His return is a big boost for head coach Carlos Queiroz before the important Group L match. With his experience, leadership, and skill in midfield, Partey is expected to play a key role as Ghana tries to build on their winning start and improve their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
