Thomas Partey radiated positivity as Ghana ramped up preparations for Tuesday’s high-stakes Group L showdown with England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars midfielder participated in Thursday evening’s training session at Bryant University in Rhode Island, joining his teammates for a recovery workout following Ghana’s dramatic 1-0 victory over Panama.
Partey’s upbeat spirit was on full display, exchanging laughter and lively banter with teammates and staff as Carlos Queiroz’s squad turned its focus to the much-awaited clash with the Three Lions.

The 33-year-old was unavailable for Ghana’s opening match after being denied entry into Canada, forcing Queiroz to make adjustments in midfield. His absence paved the way for teenage midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi, who seized his opportunity and marked his World Cup debut with a dramatic stoppage-time winner to secure all three points for the Black Stars.
While questions linger about Partey’s availability for the remainder of the tournament, his active presence in training offered fresh hope as he stays closely connected with the squad.
Ghana will continue honing its skills at its Rhode Island base in the days ahead, before heading to Boston for a potentially decisive Group L battle.
England approach the fixture buoyed by a 4-2 triumph over Croatia, while the Black Stars are keenly aware that another strong result could propel them closer to the Round of 32.
