Black Stars kick off preparations for England clash with recovery session in Rhode Island

The Black Stars got back to training on Thursday evening, stepping up their preparations for the important World Cup match against England with a recovery session at Bryant University in Rhode Island.

The team trained less than a day after Ghana’s dramatic 1-0 win over Panama in their first Group L match, thanks to Caleb Yirenkyi’s stoppage-time goal in Toronto.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz and his staff led a recovery program to help the players recover physically and start getting ready for Tuesday’s big game against England.

The players who started against Panama did light gym work, mobility exercises, and easy ball drills with help from the fitness and medical staff. The main goal was recovery, preventing injuries, and keeping the team fresh for upcoming games.

Midfielder Thomas Partey, who missed the Panama game because he was not allowed into Canada, also took part in the session. He is still training with the team as he waits for updates about whether he can play in the rest of the tournament.

At the same time, substitutes and players who did not play in the first match had a tougher training session to keep up their fitness and stay sharp for matches.

Caleb Yirenkyi, who scored the winning goal, joined the recovery session with the other starters. Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who came on for the injured Lawrence Ati-Zigi at halftime against Panama, also took part in the planned activities.

The Black Stars will stay at their training base in Rhode Island for the next few days while Queiroz works on his tactics for the important match against England.

If Ghana beats England, it would greatly improve their chances of reaching the knockout stage before their last Group L game against Croatia.
