Nations FC’s journey in the Ghana Premier League has come to an end after the 2025/26 season, as they became the last team to tumble into the second division.
Their fate was confirmed despite securing a 1-0 win over Karela United FC on the final day, as results from other matches meant they could not climb out of the relegation zone.
Nations FC joins Hohoe United FC and Eleven Wonders FC as the three clubs relegated from the top flight this season.
Hohoe United’s relegation had already been confirmed earlier in the campaign after the club withdrew from the league with seven matches still remaining. Their decision led to the forfeiture of their outstanding fixtures and to the premature end of their short stay in the Premier League.
Eleven Wonders suffered through a nightmare season, finishing at the very bottom with only 13 points from 34 matches and managing just three wins all year.
Their woes were compounded on the final day, falling 8-3 to Bibiani Gold Stars FC, where Samuel Attah Kumi stole the show with an astonishing six-goal haul.
For Nations FC, relegation stings all the more after battling to the very end. A string of late-season defeats left them with no margin for error, and while they triumphed over Karela United, it was not enough to keep their Premier League dreams alive.
Despite the disappointment, Nations FC still has a chance to finish the season on a positive note when they face Dreams FC in the MTN FA Cup final.
A win in the final would book their place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, offering the chance to shine on the continental stage even as they compete in Ghana’s second tier.
