Ghana football ambassador Asamoah Gyan has encouraged the Black Princesses to use their experience at the 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup to grow, despite being knocked out early.
Ghana’s chance to reach the knockout stage ended after a tough 4-0 loss to France in their last Group C match in Poland on Saturday.
The Black Princesses started the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Ecuador, but bounced back with a 3-0 win over South Korea in their next game.
After losing to France, Ghana finished with three points from three matches and exited at the group stage again.
Even though the result was disappointing, Gyan believes the players have a bright future and encouraged them to stay focused on improving.
“There are more opportunities. I know some of you will be asking yourselves, ‘Where do we go from here? What are we going to do?’ But I can assure you that nobody knows tomorrow,” Gyan told the players.
“It will be ending day by day. So, just have faith in yourself. Keep on doing your training. Keep your faith high.
“I’m sure the future is bright because of the way you’ve performed from day one till now. Nobody can say anything bad, but we didn’t get the result we wanted.”
Gyan also told the players to use what they learned from the tournament as motivation to come back stronger.
“We are out, but we are not done. From here, we think about ourselves. We think about how we are going to come back stronger,” he added.
Gyan’s message comes as the Black Princesses start to move past their World Cup disappointment, with several players expected to join the senior national team in the future.
