My exclusion from the 2010 World Cup was unjust – Laryea Kingston

Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has expressed disappointment regarding his omission from Ghana’s squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, characterizing the decision as both unexpected and unjust.

In an interview with 3Sports, the former Black Stars midfielder recounted the moment he learned he would not be included in the squad for the tournament in South Africa.

Kingston stated that the decision was unexpected for both himself and several teammates, noting that some former players continue to discuss the incident years later.

“The whole situation in 2010 was a huge shock for me. It affected not only me, but many of my teammates as well,” he said.

According to Kingston, he was summoned to a conference room where members of the Black Stars technical team and officials from the Ghana Football Association were present, including former GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi and sports administrator Randy Abbey.

The former midfielder acknowledged that he was deeply affected by the news and maintains that he still considers the decision to exclude him from the squad to be unfair.
