Ogum confident Black Starlets will be ready for U-17 AFCON

Black Starlets head coach Prosper Nartey Ogum has told fans the team will be ready for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Even though the team lost narrowly to Mali’s under-17 side in their last warm-up match on Saturday, Ogum is still confident the squad will be ready for the tournament.

After the game, the coach said that right now, developing the team is more important than the results.

“At this point, results are not the main focus. We’ve identified areas that need improvement, and these matches are helping us address them. I’m confident the team will be prepared when the competition begins,” he said, as quoted by Ghana Football Association.

Ogum also said that what they learn from these friendly matches will be important for improving the team before the tournament.

The Black Starlets will continue their preparations as they aim to make a strong impression at the continental championship.
